Job summary

Tauhara College Taupo is seeking a Full-Time Caretaker to maintain a safe, clean and well-presented environment for students and staff. You will disarm alarms, unlock and secure the site, manage waste, perform routine maintenance, and coordinate contractors.

The role requires practical hands-on maintenance skills, independence, good time management, and strong organisational abilities. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and be prepared for police vetting.

Qualifications

• General maintenance experience is required.
• Ability to work independently with good time management.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to help others.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit for manual tasks and upkeep.
• Strong administrative skills and record-keeping ability.
• Previous similar-role experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disarm alarm, unlock each morning, and secure site at day end.
• Manage rubbish collection and daily bin maintenance.
• General maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities.
• Undertake minor repairs and coordinate external contractors.
• Ensure site is safe, secure, clean, and well maintained.
• Set up and pack down rooms for events and functions.
• Monitor and report issues with equipment and facilities.
• Manage health and safety across the site.
• Complete admin tasks including records and maintenance logs.
