South Pacific Timber is seeking a proactive salesperson in Mount Roskill to win sales, build customer relationships, and keep stock moving across phone, in-person, and online channels.
You will manage Trade Me shop, create compelling offers, and convert online interest into sales while advising builders, tradies and DIY customers. A forklift licence is useful but not mandatory.
Great with customers? Confident closing a sale? Have a flair for selling online?
Join South Pacific Timber in Mount Roskill and put your sales skills to work in a role with variety, ownership and room to make your mark.
We’re looking for a proactive salesperson who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities and turning enquiries into orders. You’ll sell over the phone, in person and online—helping customers find the right timber and giving them a reason to come back.
You don’t need to be an eCommerce expert. Bring your sales drive, practical thinking and confidence with technology, and we’ll help you learn our products and systems.
From student projects to the largest commercial jobs, we take a personal interest in all our customers. We’ve built our business on two pillars: good people and good product.
Our team know their timber and their customers. We’re proud of our close-knit, diverse team and our unmatched range of timber profiles—and we’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to great service.
Your focus will be to win sales, build customer relationships and keep stock moving.
You’ll work with builders, tradies and DIY customers to understand their projects, recommend products, prepare quotes and follow through to secure the sale. You’ll also pick up the phone to reconnect with past buyers, introduce offers and find new business.
Alongside this, you’ll run our Trade Me Clearance Shop. Think of it as your own shop within the business: choose stock with the team, put together compelling offers, create listings and turn online interest into sales.
One moment you might be following up a quote; the next, checking timber in the yard, photographing a pack or arranging delivery. You’ll work closely with our team to make sure every order is handled well from first enquiry to final delivery.
Sell and follow through: Handle enquiries, prepare quotes, follow up leads and ask for the order.
Build repeat business: Get to know customers, understand what they buy and stay in touch with relevant products and offers.
Find opportunities: Proactively contact buyers and match available timber to their needs.
Move stock profitably: Work with the team on clearance pricing, bundles and promotions for surplus and slow-moving stock.
Own the online shop: Take clear photos, write useful listings and respond promptly to Trade Me enquiries.
Promote offers: Help get the right products in front of customers through email and other digital channels.
Coordinate orders: Arrange invoicing, freight quotes, collections and deliveries with the yard team.
Stay organised: Keep customer, stock and order information accurate, and track sales, margin and outstanding quotes.
Pitch in: Help check, measure and prepare timber when needed, keeping safety front of mind.
You’re approachable, commercially minded and motivated by making sales. You listen well, follow up when you say you will and take pride in looking after customers.
Experience in sales or a customer-facing role where you’ve actively sold products and achieved results.
Confidence on the phone and the initiative to start conversations.
The ability to recognise an opportunity, recommend a solution and close a sale.
Good organisation and attention to detail.
Comfort using computers and learning new systems.
A practical, hands-on attitude and willingness to work between the office and yard.
Timber, building supplies or trade sales experience would be an advantage, but we’re keen to hear from capable salespeople who are ready to learn.
Experience with Trade Me, Shopify or email marketing is a bonus. You don’t need to be a digital marketing specialist—you do need an interest in using online channels to sell.
A forklift licence, or willingness to obtain one, would also be useful.
Competitive remuneration
Career and professional development
Ownership of a growing sales channel and room to contribute ideas
A great team environment and job stability
