Job description

Wanaka Powersports – Queenstown, South Island

Grow Your Sales Career with Wanaka Powersports

Do you love working with people, have a passion for powersports, and know how to turn a great customer experience into a great sale?

Wanaka Powersports is looking for an enthusiastic, commercially minded and customer-focused Sales Representative to join our team in beautiful Wānaka.

This is a varied sales role where you'll work across motorcycles, watercraft, accessories, retail and ecommerce, helping customers find the right products while building relationships that continue well beyond the sale.

You'll be joining a growing business with big ambitions, a passionate team and a genuine commitment to doing things the right way.

Why This Role?

This isn't simply a showroom sales role.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of the customer journey from the first enquiry through to purchase, handover and aftercare. You'll build your product knowledge, develop your sales capability and gain valuable experience across retail, ecommerce, lead management, merchandising and customer relationship management.

You'll be working with products that people are genuinely excited about, from motorcycles and watercraft to parts, accessories and equipment.

No two days will be the same.

One day you could be helping a customer choose their next motorcycle, the next you're processing an online order, arranging a vehicle handover, assessing a trade-in, preparing a retail display or representing Wanaka Powersports at an industry event.

About the Role

As our Sales Representative, you'll play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience while driving sales across our showroom, retail and online channels.

You'll combine genuine customer care, strong communication and commercial thinking with a growing depth of product knowledge to help customers make confident purchasing decisions.

You'll be expected to actively develop opportunities, follow up leads, identify customer needs and take ownership of the sales process from enquiry through to close.

Just as importantly, you'll help maintain the relationship after the sale, ensuring customers receive the support and product knowledge they need to get the most from their purchase.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for:

Building genuine relationships with customers, understanding their needs and guiding them towards the right motorcycle, watercraft, parts, accessories or equipment.

Generating and following up leads, qualifying opportunities and confidently progressing customers through the sales process from enquiry to close.

Delivering engaging product demonstrations and using your product knowledge to answer questions, overcome objections and provide fit-for-purpose recommendations.

Achieving sales targets by identifying opportunities, recommending additional products and services, and creating a purchasing experience customers will remember.

Preparing accurate and professional sales documentation, processing major unit, retail and special-order sales, and ensuring every transaction is completed to a high standard.

Taking ownership of customer aftercare, including vehicle handovers, product education and ongoing communication following the sale.

Supporting our retail and online sales channels by responding to enquiries, processing orders, managing product information and ensuring a smooth customer experience from click to delivery.

Creating and maintaining engaging retail displays and ensuring motorcycles, watercraft, equipment and the showroom are always presented to an exceptional standard.

Contributing to our website, social media and seasonal promotional activity to help drive awareness, engagement and sales.

Representing Wanaka Powersports at product launches, events and other promotional activities, becoming a knowledgeable and enthusiastic ambassador for the brands we represent.

Recording customer and sales information accurately in our systems to support effective lead management, reporting and future sales opportunities.

Looking for ways to continuously improve our sales processes and customer experience and bringing ideas and feedback to the team.

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a genuine interest in the automotive or powersports industry.

You don’t necessarily need years of dealership experience. What matters most is your attitude, communication skills, commercial drive and willingness to learn.

You’ll ideally have:

Experience in retail sales, customer service, parts sales or a similar customer-facing role.

Strong communication, listening and relationship-building skills.

A genuine desire to understand customers and help them find the right solution.

Confidence asking questions, identifying opportunities and progressing a sale.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

The ability to manage your own workflow and prioritise when things get busy.

Confidence using computer systems, with experience in Shopify or another ecommerce platform an advantage.

Technical aptitude and an interest in learning how products work and how customers use them.

A positive, self-motivated and professional approach.

A strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn.

A full New Zealand Class 1 driver's licence. A Class 6 endorsement would be an advantage.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes pride in what they do, enjoys being part of a team and genuinely wants to help customers have a great experience.

Why Join Wanaka Powersports?

At Wanaka Powersports, we’re passionate about our products, our customers, and our people. As a growing business, we offer an environment where your contribution matters and your development is encouraged.

What We Offer

Permanent full-time employment with a respected local business.

A supportive and friendly team culture.

Career growth and development opportunities.

Exposure to sales, eCommerce, inventory management, and customer service.

The chance to work with leading powersports brands and products.

Hours of Work

This position is a permanent, full-time position, 42.5hr per week (8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday) with some rostered Saturday work 9:00am to 12:00pm.
