Job summary

Carpet Court NZ is seeking a Sales Consultant (Flooring) at our Mt Maunganui branch to work with residential and insurance customers, guiding them to the right flooring solutions.

You will measure, quote, and close sales in-home and in-store, managing a mix of leads and guiding customers through end-to-end installation. A consultative approach and relationship-building are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Proven consultative sales experience, ideally in flooring or home improvement.
• Confidently in-home with customers and able to build trust quickly.
• Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

About the Role

This is not your typical retail role. As a Sales Consultant (Flooring) with Carpet Court at our Mt Maunganui branch, you’ll work with both residential and insurance customers to understand their space, needs and lifestyle, then guide them to the right flooring solutions.

You’ll be out in customers’ homes measuring, quoting and closing sales, as well as supporting customers in-store. You’ll manage a mix of residential leads and customers replacing flooring through an insurance claim, taking ownership of the sales journey from initial enquiry through to installation.

For insurance customers, you’ll also work with insurers, loss adjusters and our internal teams to help keep the process moving and ensure the right information and documentation is in place.

It’s a hands‑on, relationship‑driven role where your ability to connect, advise, follow through and deliver a great customer experience is what sets you apart. We’re looking for someone who enjoys a consultative sales approach, thrives on achieving results, and can confidently manage the end‑to‑end customer journey.

This is a permanent Tuesday–Saturday position based at our Mt Maunganui location.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver in-home consultations: measure, quote and close
• Guide customers through tailored flooring solutions
• Manage both residential and insurance customer leads
• Follow up quotes and enquiries to secure sales
• Support insurance customers through their flooring replacement journey
• Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, installers and internal teams as required
• Manage customer leads and build your own pipeline
• Maintain strong relationships to drive repeat and referral business
• Keep showroom presentation high and welcoming
• Accurately manage sales and insurance documentation and CRM updates
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver great customer outcomes

You Will Have

• Proven consultative sales experience, ideally within flooring, home improvement, construction, kitchens, bathrooms or a similar industry
• Confidence working with customers in-home and building trust quickly
• Strong track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
• Ability to measure accurately and translate customer needs into solutions
• Excellent communication and follow-up discipline
• Strong organisation and time management skills
• The ability to manage multiple customers and jobs at different stages
• Experience with insurance-related sales or claims would be advantageous, but is not essential
• A full, clean NZ Driver’s Licence
• Confidence using systems/CRMs

This role is best suited to someone who enjoys sales and customer interaction, rather than purely desk‑based work.
