Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to oversee road and earthworks projects from Queenstown-based sites. The role requires hands-on on-site management, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence across civil works.

You will coordinate with contractors, supervise field teams, and liaise with design and client teams to resolve on-site challenges. A civil engineering degree and 3+ years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant site/engineering experience on roads and earthworks.
• Experience leading site operations and construction teams.
• Strong knowledge of road construction techniques and materials testing.
• Familiarity with contracts and project management principles.
• Excellent health and safety knowledge on construction sites.
• Able to read engineering drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage on-site construction activities for roads and earthworks.
• Ensure adherence to plans, specs, and safety rules.
• Coordinate subcontractors and site personnel.
• Conduct daily inspections to monitor progress and quality.
• Prepare progress reports for management.
• Perform site measurements for payment purposes.
• Identify and resolve site issues promptly.
• Maintain site records and material logs.
• Utilize resources efficiently (plant, labor, materials).
• Liaise with design team and clients on design queries.
