Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand in Christchurch is seeking a reliable Roading Labourer to join a busy crew, assisting roading and traffic management while helping keep active worksites safe, organised and moving efficiently.

Location: Hornby, Christchurch. Start date: Immediate. Pay rate: $25 per hour + night shift or away-work allowances, with weekly pay. University and tertiary students are encouraged to apply and eligible practical work hours can be signed off for study.

Qualifications

• Full NZ driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Willing to work day and night shifts.
• Physically fit for hands-on labour.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general roading and labouring duties across active worksites.
• Set up and remove temporary traffic management equipment, including signs, cones, and barriers.
• Direct traffic and pedestrians safely through work zones.
• Communicate clearly with site crews, drivers, pedestrians and the public.
• Monitor changing site conditions and report hazards or safety concerns.
• Help maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas.
• Support the wider roading crew with practical tasks as required.

Roading Labourer – Tradestaff is looking for a reliable, hardworking Roading Labourer to join a busy crew working across Christchurch. This is a hands‑on role supporting roading and traffic management operations while helping keep active worksites safe, organised, and moving efficiently.

Studying towards a relevant qualification? University and tertiary students are encouraged to apply — we can sign off eligible practical work hours required as part of your course.

Location: Hornby, Christchurch

Start date: Immediate start

Pay rate: $25 per hour + applicable night shift or away-work allowances, with weekly pay

What You'll Be Doing

• Assist with general roading and labouring duties across active worksites
