Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand is seeking a reliable Civil Works Labourer to support local crews across earthworks, drainage and roading projects in Cromwell, Otago. Immediate start and weekly pay are offered.

The role involves assisting with earthworks, drainage and road projects, preparing sites for excavation, spreading and compacting aggregate, and working safely around machinery. A Full Class 1 licence is required, with a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

• Must have Full Class 1 driver licence
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Previous civil, construction or outdoor labouring experience preferred

Civil Works Labourer

Ready to get stuck into civil work in Cromwell? Tradestaff Queenstown is looking for a reliable Civil Works Labourer to support local crews across a range of earthworks, drainage and roading projects.

Location: Cromwell, Otago

Start date: Immediate start

Pay rate: $27–$30 per hour, depending on experience

What you'll be doing

• Assisting with earthworks, drainage and roading projects across Cromwell
• Preparing sites for excavation, trenching and drainage work
• Spreading, levelling and compacting aggregate and other materials
• Spotting and working safely around excavators, loaders and other machinery
• Supporting operators with groundworks and general site tasks
• Helping keep sites organised, safe and running efficiently

What we're looking for

• Full Class 1 driver licence – required
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Previous civil, construction or outdoor labouring experience preferred
• Physically fit and comfortable with hands‑on outdoor work
• Reliable and safety focused
• WTR endorsements are a bonus
• Site Safe and other relevant tickets are an advantage
