Job summary

Downer in Wellington is seeking a motivated Driver Operator (Sweeper) to join our busy crew delivering road maintenance and renewal projects across the region.

You'll operate sweepers, rollers, graders, and trucks, perform hands-on tasks as needed, and comply with safety and pre-start checks. Class 4 Full NZ Drivers License is essential. We offer reliable hours, potential overtime, and a supportive team environment.

Right now, we're on the lookout for a motivated Driver Operator (Sweeper) to join our Wellington team – whether you're experienced or ready to take the next step.

In this role, you'll be part of a hardworking crew delivering a variety of construction, renewal, and maintenance projects across the region. You'll operate a range of machinery including sweepers, rollers, graders, and trucks, while also pitching in with hands-on work when needed to keep things moving.

You will be a physically fit and motivated person and will bring with you:

Class 4 Full NZ Drivers License essential (WTR highly regarded)

• Road sweeping experience highly regarded but not essential
• Physically fit and willing to get stuck into hands‑on tasks
• Good understanding of road safety, including pre-starts and inspections
• Reliable, hardworking, and a team player
• Flexible with hours when the job demands it
