Job summary

Downer is delivering pavement and chip sealing projects in Whanganui. We are looking for Class 4 and Class 5 Driver Operators to join our Pavements and Chip Sealing teams, operating truck & trailer (Class 5) or chip spreader/sealing operations (Class 4).

These roles are critical for transporting materials and plant, operating specialist equipment on-site, and delivering safe, high-quality outcomes for our communities.

Qualifications

• Full Class 4 or Class 5 licence is essential.
• Experience operating truck & trailer units and/or chip sealing machinery.
• Health and safety practices on active work sites.
• WTR endorsements preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Transport materials and plant to worksites.
• Operate specialist equipment on-site for sealing and paving.
• Support crews across construction, renewal and maintenance projects.
• Contribute to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes for communities.

We are looking for Class 4 and Class 5 Driver Operators to join our Pavements and Chip Sealing teams. Whether you're experienced in truck & trailer (Class 5) or chip spreader/sealing operations (Class 4), we have opportunities for you.

These roles are critical in supporting sealing and paving operations - from transporting materials and plant to operating specialist equipment on-site.

You’ll be part of a tight-knit crew working across a variety of construction, renewal, and maintenance projects, helping deliver safe, high-quality outcomes for our communities.

Ngā pūkenga matua | Important Skills

• Full Class 4 or Class 5 licence (essential)
• Experience operating truck & trailer units and/or chip sealing machinery
• WTR endorsements (preferred but not essential)
• Strong awareness of health & safety practices in active work sites
• Good spatial awareness and confidence operating in tight environments
• A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider crew
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and pride in delivering quality work
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
