Poolwerx Bay of Plenty is seeking a friendly Retail Sales Assistant who enjoys helping people, learning practical technical information and owning a great customer experience. You’ll perform water testing, advise on products, and help keep daily retail operations running smoothly.
This permanent full-time role runs Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid meal break (42.5 paid hours weekly). Some Sundays may be required during peak season with separate pay.

We’re looking for a friendly, capable Retail Sales Assistant who enjoys helping people, learning practical technical information and taking ownership of a great customer experience.
You’ll become someone our clients can rely on for accurate water testing, clear advice and practical product solutions. You’ll also help keep daily retail operations running smoothly, follow up enquiries and quotes, and make sure important information is recorded and handed over correctly.
This is a permanent full-time position working Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, including a 30‑minute unpaid meal break—42.5 paid hours per week. Rostered Sunday work may be required during peak season and will be paid separately.
Customer service and sales: Welcome clients, understand what they need, recommend suitable pool and spa products, support promotions and work towards agreed sales targets.
Water testing and solutions: Analyse water samples and provide clear chemical recommendations within your training and competency.
Retail enquiries and quotes: Respond to phone, email and walk-in enquiries, prepare routine quotes and follow up assigned opportunities.
Lightspeed accuracy: Maintain accurate sales, customer, quote and follow-up records in Lightspeed.
Orders and collections: Process retail transactions, customer orders, collections and repair‑item intake accurately.
Daily store operations: Complete opening, closing, cash‑handling, housekeeping and presentation tasks to agreed standards.
Stock and merchandising support: Restock displays, assist with stocktakes and report low stock, discrepancies, unusual demand and customer requests.
Team handovers: Record complete information and **escalate** service or technical matters to the right person.
You genuinely enjoy helping people and finding practical solutions.
You communicate confidently and can explain information in a clear, straightforward way.
You are reliable, organised and accurate with transactions, customer records and follow‑up.
You are comfortable working independently while contributing positively to a team.
You are curious, willing to learn and comfortable asking for help when something is outside your knowledge.
You can safely handle pool and spa chemicals and complete the physical requirements of a retail role.
Previous customer service, retail or sales experience is required.
Pool and spa industry experience is an advantage, but it isn’t essential—we’ll provide the technical training if you bring the right attitude and learning ability.
