Job summary

Poolwerx Bay of Plenty is seeking a friendly Retail Sales Assistant who enjoys helping people, learning practical technical information and owning a great customer experience. You’ll perform water testing, advise on products, and help keep daily retail operations running smoothly.

This permanent full-time role runs Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid meal break (42.5 paid hours weekly). Some Sundays may be required during peak season with separate pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum of customer service/retail or sales experience.
• Able to handle pool and spa chemicals safely.
• Willing to learn and provide clear, practical solutions and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Welcome clients, understand needs, recommend pool/spa products and support promotions.
• Perform water testing and provide clear chemical recommendations.
• Respond to phone, email and in-store enquiries, prepare quotes and follow up opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records in Lightspeed and ensure smooth daily store operations.
• Process transactions, orders, collections and return items as required.
• Open/close till, cash handling and store housekeeping to standard.
• Restock displays, monitor stock levels and report discrepancies or demand.
• Escalate service or technical issues to the right person with full context.
