Job summary

Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga is seeking a motivated Retail 2IC to step up, support the team, and deliver an exceptional shopping experience. The role is full-time (40 hours per week) with one weekend day, working alongside the Retail Zone Leader to keep the store running smoothly.

You will coach and lead a team, set daily priorities, and ensure high standards of service, merchandising, and health and safety. This is a great opportunity to grow leadership skills in a busy Bay of Plenty retail

Qualifications

• Previous retail leadership or supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer-focus with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Ability to coach and motivate a team to deliver high service levels.

Responsibilities

• Support the Retail Zone Leader in day-to-day store operations.
• Coach and guide team members to maintain high service standards.
• Lead on-floor when the Zone Leader is away.
• Help with stock presentation, merchandising, and replenishment.
• Resolve customer issues on the floor and maintain safety standards.

About the Role:

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) and includes working one weekend day.

As our Retail 2IC, you'll work alongside the Retail Zone Leader to keep the shop floor running smoothly and support a high-performing team. You'll help coordinate daily tasks, coach and encourage team members, and lead from the front to deliver the excellent service our customers know and expect.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Retail Zone Leader in the day-to-day operation of the store
• Provide on-floor leadership by helping set daily priorities and tasks
• Lead by example to deliver consistently high standards of customer service
• Assist with coaching, guiding, and supporting team members
• Step into a leadership role when the Zone Leader is absent
• Help maintain high standards of merchandising, stock presentation, and replenishment
• Support troubleshooting of customer and operational issues on the floor
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and team-focused work environment
• Ensure health, safety, and Mitre 10 policies and procedures are followed

About You:

You’ll bring strong leadership skills, a great attitude, and the ability to guide and inspire your team. You’ll be comfortable in a busy retail environment and confident making decisions that support both the team and the customer.

You will ideally have:

• Previous retail experience, preferably in a fast-paced or big-box environment
• A strong customer-focused attitude with good communication skills
• An interest in developing leadership skills and supporting others
• Confidence to step up, show initiative, and make informed decisions
• Good organisational skills and the ability to help keep the team on track
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
• Willingness to work flexible hours to support the team
