Job summary

Massey University in New Zealand seeks a Residential Life Coordinator to support positive student communities within university housing. This live-in role includes after-hours on-call duties to respond to incidents and emergencies, contributing to a safe, inclusive residential environment.

You will engage with students and stakeholders, plan events, coordinate resident representation, and help residents access support. A NZ driver’s licence is required; a tertiary qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, student support, youth work or community development.
• Experience planning and coordinating events or activities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to engage with a diverse range of students.
• Excellent organisational abilities and prioritisation.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions.
• Current New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Tertiary qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support positive behaviour and assist in resolving issues within the residential community.
• Coordinate resident representation and opportunities for residents to have a voice.
• Support communications and social media initiatives to keep residents informed and engaged.
• Assist with critical incidents and emergency situations as required.
• Contribute to a collaborative Residential Life and wider Accommodation Services team.
• Live-in role with after-hours on-call roster (~17 weeks per year) and on-call allowance.
• Ensure safety checks and compliance with applicable policies.
