Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of our client, seeks a Senior Mining Accountant to oversee financial operations for mining activities in South Africa. The role is remote, with coverage for South Africa, requiring IFRS expertise, cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has a CA(SA)/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent, at least 5 years accounting experience (2+ years in mining), strong Excel and ERP skills, and the ability to work independently from a home office near Queenstown, Eastern

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• Professional qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) desirable.
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience, 2+ years in mining.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable for mining operations.
• Prepare IFRS-based monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Develop and manage annual operating budget and long-term forecasts.
• Analyze financial data for trends, variances, and cost-savings opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, SA standards, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
• Provide financial guidance to operational managers and departments.
• Implement and improve financial systems and processes.
• Stay updated on mining-specific accounting practices and regulatory changes.
• Manage data integrity and protect company assets.
