Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geophysicist to join their remote-first exploration team, supporting prospects that may originate from or impact areas near East London.

You will oversee the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of seismic data to identify prospects and build reservoir models, applying inversion and attribute analysis.

The role requires collaboration with geologists and engineers, offering a competitive salary, bonus, and fully remote arrangements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Geophysics or related Earth Science.
• 8+ years in exploration geophysics, preferably Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with seismic processing/interpretation software (Petrel, DS Geosciences, HampsonRussell).

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee seismic data acquisition programs.
• Process and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify structures and hydrocarbon indicators.
• Perform seismic attribute analysis, inversion, and quantitative interpretation.
• Integrate geophysical data with well logs and core data to build subsurface models.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and management to assess exploration risks and opportunities.
• Prepare detailed geophysical reports and recommendations for exploration strategy.
