About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geophysicist to join their remote-first exploration team, supporting endeavors that may originate from or impact areas near East London . This role is integral to the discovery and characterization of subsurface oil and gas reserves. You will be responsible for the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geophysical data, primarily seismic, to identify and evaluate exploration prospects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of seismic data processing techniques, inversion, and attribute analysis, with a proven ability to translate geophysical insights into actionable geological and reservoir models within the Oil & Gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee seismic data acquisition programs, ensuring data quality and efficiency.
• Process and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures, stratigraphy, and hydrocarbon indicators.
• Perform seismic attribute analysis, inversion, and other advanced geophysical techniques to enhance subsurface characterization.
• Integrate geophysical data with well logs, core data, and other geological information to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and management to assess exploration risks and opportunities.
• Prepare detailed geophysical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration strategy and well planning.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Physics, or a related Earth Science field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in exploration geophysics, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector .
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic processing and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace Geosciences, HampsonRussell).
• Strong understanding of seismic wave propagation, data acquisition principles, and geological implications.
• Experience with attribute analysis, seismic inversion, and potentially quantitative seismic interpretation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
