Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geoscientist to lead subsurface imaging initiatives for oil & gas projects. This fully remote role supports teams across global exploration campaigns from Queenstown and beyond, focusing on advanced interpretation of seismic and gravity/magnetic data to de-risk ventures and optimize field development.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or master's in geophysics or geology, 10+ years of interpretation expertise, and a proven track record in seismic

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, or related Earth Science.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in geophysical interpretation and subsurface imaging, primarily in Oil & Gas exploration.
• Expertise in seismic processing workflows and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, OpendTect).

Responsibilities

• Lead the interpretation of complex 2D/3D seismic and gravity/magnetic data sets.
• Develop advanced subsurface models, integrating multiple data sources for prospect identification.
• Apply seismic attribute analysis, inversion, and attribute mapping techniques.
• Collaborate virtually with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to refine subsurface understanding.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to best practice development in subsurface imaging.
• Present findings and recommendations to management and joint venture partners.

This critical role focuses on advanced interpretation of geophysical data to de-risk exploration ventures and optimize field development in the Oil & Gas industry. You will leverage cutting-edge technologies and collaborate virtually with multidisciplinary teams to unlock subsurface potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the interpretation of complex 2D/3D seismic and gravity/magnetic data sets.
• Develop advanced subsurface models, integrating multiple data sources for prospect identification.
