Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Data Privacy Lawyer to join a global technology services leader in a fully remote capacity. You will advise on POPIA, GDPR, CCPA and other international frameworks, translating complex rules into practical policy across product, security, and business teams.

You will conduct DPIAs/PIAs, review DPAs and vendor contracts, monitor regulatory developments, and guide privacy-by-design across new products.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 6+ years focusing on data privacy.
• In-depth knowledge of POPIA, GDPR and major international frameworks.
• Experience advising multinational organizations on complex privacy matters.
• Strong understanding of technology, cybersecurity and data governance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
• Strategic, business-oriented legal advisory capability.
• Privacy technology experience is a plus; CIPP/E or CIPP/US desirable.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on global data privacy laws with focus on POPIA, GDPR, CCPA.
• Develop and implement data privacy policies, procedures and training.
• Conduct DPIAs/PIAs and advise on data breach strategies.
• Review DPAs and vendor contracts.
• Collaborate with security to align legal and technical safeguards.
• Support product teams with privacy-by-design principles.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on impacts.
• Manage relationships with data protection authorities/external counsel.
