Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Retail Compliance Officer to oversee and enforce compliance across remote retail operations in South Africa. The role focuses on developing programs, conducting risk assessments, and training staff to uphold laws and internal policies.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience in compliance, legal or risk management, preferably in retail.
• In-depth knowledge of South African retail regulations and consumer/labour law.
• Proven track record developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and investigative skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies for retail operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities.
• Ensure adherence to consumer protection, labour, health and safety laws.
• Investigate compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice and training to store staff and management.
• Monitor legislative changes and update policies accordingly.
• Manage relationships with regulators and external auditors.
• Deliver compliance training programs and materials.
• Oversee reporting of compliance metrics to senior management.
• Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior.
