Job summary

Placements24, a client in the manufacturing sector, seeks a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant for a fully remote role servicing employees in New Zealand. You will manage the complete payroll cycle, ensure compliance with tax and labor laws, and protect payroll data with discretion.

Experience with VIP or Sage Payroll is essential. You will handle data updates for hires/terminations, calculate deductions, and prepare statutory reports while coordinating with HR and finance teams to maintain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years payroll processing experience.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation and tax in NZ (as applicable).
• Proficiency with VIP Payroll, Sage Payroll, and Excel.
• Strong accounting principles and data accuracy.
• Confidential handling of payroll information.
• Ability to work remotely with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll accurately for all employees.
• Manage employee data: new hires, terminations, and changes in pay or deductions.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations and company policies.
• Calculate and process deductions (PAYE, UIF-equivalent, pension).
• Prepare and submit statutory payroll reports to government bodies.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with HR/Finance to ensure data accuracy.
• Maintain confidential payroll records and data security.
• Process ad-hoc payments, bonuses, and adjustments as required.
• Stay updated on payroll legislation and best practices.
