Job summary

Transpower New Zealand Limited seeks a specialist payroll subject matter expert to ensure over 1,100 employees are paid accurately and on time. You’ll work with HR, Finance, managers and employees, and partner with IT and external agencies to deliver reliable payroll services.

You’ll bring five years of payroll experience with NZPPA certification or equivalent, strong knowledge of Dayforce aPay or Oracle, and a thorough understanding of NZ employment legislation and annual leave rules.

Qualifications

• At least five years' payroll experience supported by NZPPA certification or equivalent recognised payroll qualifications.
• Advanced working knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems including Dayforce aPay, Oracle or comparable systems.
• Strong understanding of NZ employment legislation and its application to payroll."
• Experience with payroll audit routines, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Ability to provide clear, accurate payroll advice to employees, managers and Finance.

Responsibilities

• Manage fortnightly and off-cycle payroll, including changes, leave, benefits and deductions.
• Provide payroll reporting for internal/external use and for legal/HR processes.
• Process payroll-related payments to external counterparties and tax authorities.
• Support general ledger reconciliations and year-end payroll processes.
• Support IT and Finance Systems in payroll system upgrades and changes.
• Identify automation opportunities and train colleagues to build payroll knowledge.
