Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Oncology Infusion Unit on a 0.8 FTE basis. The role covers infusion planning and delivery for cancer patients, with shifts across Monday to Friday.

You will work with Oncology CNS staff and consultants to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and contribute to education and service improvement across the unit.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with NZ Nursing Council and current APC.
  • Post-graduate study in oncology or infusion therapy is preferred.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence and patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and plan intravenous infusion treatments for cancer patients.
  • Collaborate with local and external oncology specialists to manage infusion therapy.
  • Oversee safe infusion unit services for West Coast patients.
  • Provide leadership, education and support to promote patient self-management.

Registered Nurse - Oncology Infusion Unit

0.8FTE (64 hours per fortnight) permanent position

Shifts across Monday - Friday

About the Role

The Infusion Unit Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering and planning intravenous infusion treatments for patients with Cancer Diagnoses and other conditions.

The key deliverables are:

  • Provides management of infusion therapy in collaboration with Health New Zealand local & external Consultant Specialists.
  • Provides management of infusion therapy in collaboration with Oncology CNS staff
  • Oversees the safe delivery of infusion unit services to the West Coast patients
  • Provides leadership and development skills and knowledge on types of specialized medication infusion therapy
  • Works across the organization to deliver quality education and support that is patient focused and promotes and supports self- management

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse with a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. You will bring strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to your practice.

You will ideally have:

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of NZ as a comprehensive or General Nurse with a current APC
  • Minimum of 5 years post-graduation experience
  • Willing to work towards a relevant Post-Graduate Diploma
  • Displays a high degree of confidence, assertiveness, and motivation
  • Excellent personal organizational skills
  • Achieved and maintains competency in MIV and CVAD Management.
  • Completed or willing to complete EVIQ appropriate learning.
  • Completed or willing to complete SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment) training.
  • Completed or willing to complete Core Immediate training.
  • Completed or willing to complete Mosaiq training.
