Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Dunedin invites applications for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Infusion Unit. The role provides intravenous treatments to a variety of specialty patients, with infusions booked from Monday to Friday.

This fixed-term vacancy is 24 hours per week, based at Dunedin Hospital, offering a chance to work in a busy outpatient setting as part of a friendly team. You must hold NZ Nursing Council registration with an APC, and have IV cannulation/infusion skills,

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
  • IV cannulation and infusion skills are required
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong time management and organisational abilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide intravenous medical treatments to patients in the Medical Infusion Unit
  • Manage infusion bookings on an appointment-based plan, Monday to Friday
  • Work within the Gastroenterology Department and alongside the broader team
  • Contribute to efficient outpatient services and patient-centred care
  • Demonstrate adaptability and collaboration with other professionals

Registered Nurse – Medical Infusion Unit Salary Base $81,683 - $106,739 + KiwiSaver

  • Dunedin Hospital
  • Part-time 0.6 FTE vacancy (24 hours per week)
  • Fixed term vacancy till May 2027

About the role
  • The Medical Infusion Unit provides intravenous medical treatments to patients from a variety of medical specialties such as Neurology, Gastroenterology and Rheumatology.
  • Infusions are booked on an appointment-based plan, from Monday to Friday.
  • The unit is housed within the Gastroenterology Department which is home to the broader Gastroenterology team of consultants, specialist nurses for IBD and Hepatology, and the National Bowel Screening Program co-ordinators.
  • This growing department offers you the prospect of working in an outpatient service, and to be exposed to a different type of nursing practice.
  • We are a small, efficient and friendly team, who are looking for a new team member to help us respond to the growing needs of the community who require the treatments we provide.

About You
  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand

  • Current IV cannulation and infusion skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
