Job summary

Presbyterian Support Central (PSC) is seeking a Recreation Officer to support our Enliven Bureau in Wellington. You will plan and deliver daily recreation activities across Homes, coordinating individual plans to engage Elders and encourage independence.

Experience in recreation or diversional therapy and aged care is required, along with a Level 3 NZ Health & Wellbeing or Diversional Therapy certificate. A full NZ driver’s license and willingness to work across Huntleigh (Karori), Woburn (Lower

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for Recreational Officers to join us to support our Bureau team where you will offer cover for our team to provide activity programmes and special events in our Homes. This role is working at our Homes in Huntleigh in Karori, Woburn in Lower Hutt and Longview in Tawa.

As a Recreation Officer, you will work as part of our team to plan and facilitate individual recreation plans for our Elders, as well as deliver the day-to-day recreation programmes. This involves running daily activities with our team, which includes planning the social calendar for the day service and supporting our Elders to pursue their interests. You will encourage Elders to maintain their independence and maintain connections with their community.

You will have experience working with Elders and be passionate about the wellbeing of older people. You will be enthusiastic but patient; well-organised, with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. We are looking for someone with:

• Previous experience in a Recreation or Diversional Therapy role
• Previous experience in Aged Care
• A minimum Level 3 NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or Diversional Therapy Qualification
• Understanding of person-centered care and meeting individual support needs
• Ability to listen to people and work collaboratively within a team
• Full, clean New Zealand driver’s license
• Ability to work across multiple homes in Wellington including Karori, Tawa and Lower Hutt
