Job summary

Brian Perry Civil is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the Wellington Port Infrastructure Early Works team. This hands-on role focuses on quality assurance, compliance, documentation management, auditing, and project handover, working with site engineers and subcontractors to meet project requirements and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Quality Engineer/Quality Assurance/Quality Control role within civil or infrastructure construction.
  • Strong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation and project handover requirements.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand construction standards and ISO 9001 quality management principles.
  • Experience using document management platforms such as Procore and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and ongoing management of project quality systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop, review, and manage ITPs, quality records, and workpack documentation.
  • Coordinate quality documentation through Procore and ensure records are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Conduct regular desktop and site-based audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across project activities.
  • Work closely with site engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to close out quality requirements.
  • Assist with project handover documentation, ensuring all quality records are reviewed, complete, and client-ready.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team delivering the Cook Strait Interislander Ferries – Wellington Port Infrastructure Early Works. Working closely with the Quality Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring construction activities meet project requirements, quality standards, and client expectations. This is a hands‑on role focused on quality assurance, compliance, documentation management, auditing, and project handover, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being both in the field and working closely with project teams to achieve quality outcomes.

  • Support the implementation and ongoing management of project quality systems, processes, and procedures.

What You’ll Bring
  • A qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or engineering role within civil or infrastructure construction.
  • Strong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation, and project handover requirements.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand construction standards and quality management systems, including ISO 9001 principles.
  • Experience using document management platforms such as Procore and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across project and subcontractor teams.
