Job summary

Transpower New Zealand Limited (TPNZ) invites experienced engineers to join our Protection & Automation Project Engineering teams. Based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, you will shape HV protection and automation work across scoping, design review, risk management and commissioning on critical grid projects.

You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable transmission, refine design standards, and support ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

HV protection and automation design experience in transmission or generation sectors.
Ability to review and deliver practical technical solutions that meet grid requirements.
Familiarity with design standards and protection scheme settings.
Degree in electrical/power engineering or equivalent, WA-accredited.

Responsibilities

Scoping, reviewing and supporting Protection & Automation work from concept through to commissioning.
Investigating, modelling and assessing protection schemes under various grid configurations.
Defining practical, fit-for-purpose technical solutions with project stakeholders.
Reviewing design deliverables and contributing to scopes, cost estimates and business cases.
Supporting updates to protection scheme settings and engineering standards.
Developing engineering capability within the team and evaluating new digital technologies.
