We seek a Project Officer to manage development initiatives in the Queenstown region, coordinating planning, execution, and monitoring to improve livelihoods, infrastructure, and access to services.

The ideal candidate has strong project management experience, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to community development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, PM, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in project management, preferably in development or non-profit.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Familiarity with socio-economic context and development challenges in the Eastern Cape.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle from planning to closure.
  • Develop detailed project plans with timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate activities of project teams, consultants, and implementing partners.
  • Ensure community participation and engagement throughout project implementation.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, financial updates, and impact assessments for stakeholders.

About the Role

Our client, a non-profit organization focused on socio-economic development in under-served areas, is seeking a dedicated Project Officer to manage key development initiatives in the Queenstown region. This role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of various community projects aimed at improving livelihoods, infrastructure, and access to essential services. You will work closely with community members, local authorities, and implementation partners to ensure projects are delivered effectively, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate is a skilled project manager with strong analytical abilities and a deep commitment to community development, possessing excellent organizational skills and experience working in challenging environments within the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and closure.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate activities of project teams, consultants, and implementing partners.
  • Ensure effective community participation and engagement throughout project implementation.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, financial updates, and impact assessments for stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management, preferably within the development or non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic context and development challenges in the Eastern Cape .
