Job summary

Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school, delivering distance education to up to 24,000 ākonga. The Project Manager, At Risk Gateway Programmes leads planning and delivery of initiatives enhancing wellbeing, belonging and engagement for ākonga enrolled via at risk gateways, working across teams and sectors.

The role reports to the National Lead and focuses on whānau-centred, community-based projects that strengthen connections and outcomes for ākonga, whānau and kaimahi.

The Project Manager, At Risk Gateway Programmes is responsible for leading the planning, delivery, and successful implementation of assigned projects and initiatives that strengthen Te Kura approach to supporting wellbeing and engagement for ākonga enrolled via at risk gateways.

The role ensures that projects are well-scoped, well-managed, and aligned with organisational priorities, delivering meaningful and measurable benefits for ākonga, whānau, and kaimahi. This role will be focused on projects and initiatives which are whānau-centred and community-based to enable connections, belonging, wellbeing and engagement to be strengthened.

The Project Manager, At Risk Gateway Programmes, will work closely with others across the organisation and wider sector who are focused on delivering targeted interventions and support for ākonga enrolled through at risk gateways.

Reporting to the National Lead, At Risk Gateway Programmes, this role contributes to the broader Ākonga Hauora Wāhanga and works collaboratively to strengthen outcomes for ākonga enrolled through at risk gateways.

You are a highly organised Project Manager dedicated to improving outcomes for ākonga through inclusive and culturally responsive initiatives. With strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, you build effective partnerships and work collaboratively to achieve and deliver, positive and measurable outcomes.

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate concisely and effectively
• Proven project management experience to successfully deliver projects within education, or public sector environments
• A values-driven and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to improving wellbeing outcomes for ākonga.
• Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, resources, and deadlines.
