Pegasus Engineering is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Rolleston-based team on a full-time basis. You will oversee planning, execution, and handover of construction projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to high quality standards.

Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, site supervision, risk management, and stakeholder communications, with a focus on safety and environmental compliance across all activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction project management.
• Knowledge of construction methodologies and contract management.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Proficiency with project management software and CAD tools.

Pegasus Engineering is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis in Rolleston, Canterbury. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects from inception through handover. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards whilst managing teams, stakeholders, and resources effectively. This position is integral to our continued success and growth in the construction sector, requiring a strategic thinker who can navigate complex project landscapes and drive operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and scheduling construction projects, including the development of detailed project timelines, resource allocation plans, and budget forecasts
• Managing project budgets and financial performance, ensuring expenditure remains within approved parameters and identifying cost‑saving opportunities
• Coordinating and supervising all on‑site activities, including liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and the construction workforce to ensure seamless project execution
• Monitoring project progress against agreed milestones and deliverables, implementing corrective actions where necessary to maintain schedule and quality targets
• Managing health, safety, and environmental compliance across all project activities, fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and standards
• Maintaining effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams through regular progress reports, site meetings, and updates
• Managing project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and variation orders
• Identifying and managing project risks, developing mitigation strategies to minimise potential impacts on schedule and budget
• Conducting regular quality inspections and ensuring all work meets contractual specifications and industry standards

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience of 5+ years in construction project management, preferably within commercial, civil engineering, or building construction sectors
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management, and project delivery frameworks
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Proficiency in project management software and tools, including scheduling applications and financial management systems
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to construction projects
• Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a pragmatic approach to overcoming project challenges
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CAD software is advantageous
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is desirable but not essential
