Job summary

Assemble, a leading nationwide construction consultancy, seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead landmark vertical build projects from concept to completion. You will coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors, steering time, cost, quality and risk to deliver outstanding outcomes in Dunedin and wider Otago.

You will mentor junior team members and bring a proactive, value-driven mindset to complex projects, ensuring clear communication and robust stakeholder management across all phases

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in project management, engineering, construction or a related field.
• Proven ability to deliver vertical build or commercial construction projects from inception to completion.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a market-leading consultancy and take ownership of some genuinely impressive vertical build projects.

You will be working across projects that are not only significant in scale, but also have a real impact on the communities they serve - creating better facilities, supporting growing communities and delivering buildings that will leave a lasting legacy.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will take a lead role across your projects, working from early concept and design through to procurement, construction and completion. You'll work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and other key stakeholders, providing strong project leadership and ensuring projects are delivered successfully across time, cost, quality and risk.

You will also have the opportunity to mentor and support more junior members of the team, while working alongside some of the best project management professionals in the industry.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong experience as a Project Manager, ideally within a consultancy or client-side environment
• 6+ years' experience in project management, engineering, construction or a related field
• A relevant qualification in engineering, construction, building science or a related discipline
• Proven experience delivering vertical build or commercial construction projects from inception through to completion
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence leading meetings and managing project teams and consultants
• Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail
• The ability to work autonomously while also contributing positively to a wider team
• A proactive approach and a genuine desire to add value to projects and clients

While the preference is for a strong Senior Project Manager, the business would also be open to considering an excellent Intermediate Project Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career. If you have solid vertical build experience, strong client skills and the drive to progress into a Senior PM position, they would be keen to have a conversation.
