Job summary

Fluid Recruitment in Queenstown is seeking a capable Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager to join a well-established Civil team delivering a diverse range of infrastructure and civil construction projects.

This hands-on role suits someone who stays close to the work and can manage several smaller projects from $50k-$500k or take ownership of a larger $1m+ project, with a strong emphasis on health & safety, planning and delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager within civil construction

Job description

We're looking for a capable Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager to join a well-established Civil team delivering a diverse range of infrastructure and civil construction projects.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being close to the work and can confidently manage either multiple smaller projects in the $50k-$500k range, or take ownership of a larger project valued at $1m+.

As a self-performing civil contractor, the ability to communicate well with crews, subcontractors, clients and stakeholders is critical. We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and solutions-focused, with a strong focus on health & safety, planning and project delivery.

What you'll be responsible for:

• Managing projects from planning through to completion


• Coordinating site teams, plant, materials and subcontractors


• Developing and maintaining project programmes and job plans


• Managing project budgets, costs and commercial performance


• Tracking cost-to-complete and project forecasting[semicolon?]
  
• Preparing and managing claims, variations and progress reporting


• Maintaining a strong focus on health & safety and quality


• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and internal teams


• Providing practical support and problem-solving on site

The projects:

You'll have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio including:

• Bridge construction and maintenance


• Retaining walls


• Ducting and utility installation


• Pump station upgrades


• Concrete slab and structural concrete works

About you:

You'll ideally have:

• Experience as a Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager within civil construction


• The capability to manage multiple projects or take responsibility for a larger project


• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills


• A practical, hands-on approach to project delivery


• Strong understanding of H&S and job planning


• Experience with budgets, cost control, claims and cost-to-complete would be highly advantageous


• A relevant civil engineering or construction qualification
