Job summary

RobLawMax Recruitment is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join a high-performing civil contracting team delivering a major bridge infrastructure project in New Zealand. You will report to the Project Manager and oversee planning, coordination, and technical delivery for bridge works, with leadership of site engineering teams.

The role covers management of programme, quality, subcontractors, procurement, and commercial outcomes, while driving health, safety, and environmental performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 5–10 years' experience delivering bridge, structural, or major infrastructure projects.
• Experience operating at Project Engineer level with a tier 1 contractor.
• Willingness to live in Hawkes Bay or Wellington.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement construction methodologies, staging plans, and work programmes.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, plant, and site resources.
• Manage quality assurance systems, inspections, testing, and project documentation.
• Drive health, safety, and environmental performance across section activities.
• Support procurement, forecasting, cost control, and commercial reporting.
• Assist with contract administration, variations, and extension of time claims.
• Review engineering designs, resolve technical issues, and support project delivery teams.
• Oversee surveying, set-out verification, and as-built documentation.
• Mentor Site Engineers and contribute to the development of project teams.

An established civil infrastructure contractor is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join a high-performing civil contracting team delivering a major bridge infrastructure project.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and technical delivery of bridge and section of a major project. You will play a key role in managing programme, quality, subcontractors, procurement, and commercial outcomes while providing leadership to site engineering teams.

Project will likely include bridge structures, piling, foundations, structural concrete, retaining structures, transport infrastructure, and other major civil works.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement construction methodologies, staging plans, and work programmes
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, plant, and site resources
• Manage quality assurance systems, inspections, testing, and project documentation
• Drive health, safety, and environmental performance across section activities

Requirements:
