Job summary

Sleepyhead, part of The Comfort Group, is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our Mattress Assembly team and drive safe, efficient and high‑quality production on the factory floor. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you’ll lead the day‑to‑day performance of the team.

You’ll manage production targets while upholding safety, quality, productivity, cost and housekeeping, and develop your people to drive continuous improvement in a hands‑on leadership role on a proudly

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a manufacturing, production or assembly team.
• Experience in mattress, bedding, furniture, foam, textile or similar manufacturing is highly regarded.
• Strong people leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
• Experience managing production schedules, labour, quality and KPIs.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the Mattress Assembly team.
• Plan and coordinate daily production to meet schedules and customer requirements.
• Manage labour, resources and production costs within budget.
• Monitor KPIs including output, quality, waste, downtime and labour efficiency.
• Ensure all processes meet Sleepyhead’s quality, safety and operational standards.
• Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks and disruptions.
• Work closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and reliable.
• Drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, productivity and waste reduction.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
• Work collaboratively with other manufacturing teams, including foam production, foam conversion, top‑of‑bed and distribution.
• Support production reporting, planning, risk assessments and improvement initiatives.
• Build an engaged, accountable and high‑performing team culture.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our Mattress Assembly team and drive safe, efficient and high-quality production. Reporting to theManufacturing Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day performance of our Mattress Assembly team.

You’ll be responsible for achieving production targets while maintaining high standards across safety, quality, productivity, cost and housekeeping. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll lead from the floor, develop your people, and drive continuous improvement.

About you

You’re an experienced Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Leader who enjoys working with people and getting results.

You’ll ideally have:

• Proven experience leading a manufacturing, production or assembly team
• Experience in mattress, bedding, furniture, foam, textile or similar manufacturing is highly regarded
• Strong people leadership, coaching and performance management skills
• Experience managing production schedules, labour, quality and KPIs
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvementLean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar experience is desirable
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and decision‑making skills
• A hands‑on, energetic and action‑oriented leadership style
• A qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline is desirable, but practical manufacturing leadership experience will be highly valued
