Job summary

NZ Post is seeking a Processing Officer (On Call) at our Blenheim branch. The role involves sorting, consolidating and dispatching parcels for delivery. On-call shifts cover sickness, leave and peak periods, with a physically demanding workload that may require lifting up to 25 kg.

You will join a safety‑driven, collaborative team at a government‑owned agency committed to delivering for New Zealand. The role offers flexible on-call work and opportunities to balance life and work while supporting

Qualifications

• Availability to work on call across the day shift, Monday to Friday.
• Ability to perform a physically demanding role, lifting up to 25 kg.
• Accurate eye for detail and good geographical knowledge.
• Committed team player focused on safety and efficiency.
• Willingness to be called upon for peak delivery periods.

Responsibilities

• Sort, consolidate and dispatch parcels and freight.
• Cover staff sickness or leave and support peak periods.
• Contribute to safe work practices and site security.
• Assist Couriers by ensuring timely handover of loads.

About the role

Our Processing Officers create the magic by sorting, consolidating and dispatching parcels and freight at our McArtney Street branch, ready for our couriers to deliver. We're a lively bunch, with a diverse set of skills, but we all share one common goal - to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our beautiful Aotearoa. Our On Call employees are a vital part of our business. You can be called on to cover staff sickness, leave or to assist us with our peak delivery periods. Its a great way to get work / life balance! • Be available to work on call as and when required across the day shift, Monday to Friday and usually (but not limited to) mid - late afternoons
• Be a committed teammate, keeping yourself, others and the site safe
• Energy for a physically demanding role – can you lift up to 25kgs?
• An eye for detail and good geographical knowledge
