Job summary

George Grant Engineering (GGE) is seeking a skilled Rigger Welder to join the site erection team in New Zealand. You will rig, position and weld structural steel components on-site, interpreting erection layouts and welding details to meet project specifications.

Ideal candidates hold a SiteSafe Passport, EWP and Working at Heights certifications, with 5+ years in structural steel erection and on-site welding. Collaborative team player with a strong safety focus is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel erection and on-site welding.
• Ability to read and interpret erection layouts and welding details.
• Current SiteSafe Passport, EWP, and Working at Heights certifications.
• Valid Welder Qualification Tickets (AS/NZS standards preferred).

About the Role

You'll be working on high-profile commercial projects, erecting and welding structural steel components on-site. Your expertise in rigging, layout interpretation, and safe work practices will contribute to the precision and safety GGE is known for.

Key Responsibilities

• Rig and position structural steel members in line with erection sequences.
• Perform high-quality welds on-site per specified welding procedures.
• Interpret erection drawings and welding detail sheets accurately.
• Assist in crane lifting operations under direction of site leadership.
• Maintain compliance with all site safety protocols and GGE policies.

What We’re Looking For

• New Zealand Permanent Resident or Citizen.
• Fluent English communication (spoken and written).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel erection and on-site welding.
• Ability to read and interpret erection layouts and welding details.
• Current SiteSafe Passport, EWP, and Working at Heights certifications.
• Valid Welder Qualification Tickets (AS/NZS standards preferred).
• Strong understanding of health & safety requirements on top-tier NZ commercial sites.
• Team player with a proactive attitude and commitment to safety.
