Job summary

Genesis Energy seeks a skilled Mechanical Technician for Tekapo power stations. You will maintain heavy equipment, diagnose faults, and support preventative maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation.

On-site responsibilities include logging tasks in CMMS, keeping technical records, and adhering to permit-to-work and safety procedures. The role requires a Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent, a full NZ driver’s licence, and availability for a 4on/2off/4on/4off roster.

Qualifications

• Proven experience maintaining heavy industrial or mechanical plant.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with rotating equipment, pumps, valves or pressure systems.
• Experience using CMMS (Maximo, SAP) and similar systems.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work and health & safety procedures.
• NZ Driver's licence in full.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical assets across Tekapo power stations.
• Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions.
• Log defects, time, materials using CMMS and maintain records.
• Maintain procedures, work orders, drawings and specs.
• Support asset management plan through scheduled tasks and site checks.
• Ensure safety, quality and efficient use of resources on all work.
