Job summary

Distinction Mackenzie Country Hotel in Twizel is seeking a reliable Porter for the upcoming summer season. The successful candidate will greet guests with warmth, assist with luggage, and help maintain the hotel’s public areas to ensure a welcoming environment.

This fixed-term position runs from 13 October 2026 to 31 May 2027. You will support front office operations and provide guest information, contributing to an enjoyable stay in a stunning New Zealand destination.

Distinction Mackenzie Country Hotel Twizel is seeking a reliable, professional and guest-focused Porter to join our team for the upcoming summer season.

Fixed Term: 13th October 2026 – 31 May 2027

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all guests.
• Assist guests with luggage, arrivals and departures as required.
• Maintain the cleanliness, presentation and appearance of hotel public areas.
• Assist with guest enquiries and provide information about hotel facilities, local attractions and services.
• Ensure guest belongings are handled with care and remain secure.
• Support Front Office and other departments to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel.
• Assist with general hotel duties and reasonable tasks as directed by Management.
• Maintain high standards of personal presentation, punctuality, hygiene and professionalism.
• Attend team briefings and meetings as required.
• Report any maintenance, operational, security or guest concerns to the Manager on Duty.
• Maintain awareness of the security and safety of guests, staff and the hotel.
• Communicate professionally with guests, colleagues and management at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for guest service and hospitality.
• Is friendly, approachable and professional.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is reliable, punctual and well presented.
• Can work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Has good knowledge of Twizel and the Mackenzie Country, or is willing to learn.
• Is flexible and willing to assist across the hotel as required.
• Has the right to legally work in New Zealand for the duration of the fixed-term position.

Previous hotel or hospitality experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
