Rosewood Matakauri, nestled on Lake Wakatipu near Queenstown, New Zealand, seeks a permanent full-time Night Porter to oversee overnight hotel operations. Shifts typically run 7pm–7am, with duties spanning guest reception, safety patrols, cleaning, and food/service support.

Candidates should bring at least 3 years in a hotel setting, a strong service mindset, and superb communication. A hands-on, detail-oriented, reliable team player is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Welcoming late night or early morning guests, answering telephones, delivering messages.
• Responding to emergencies as required.
• Patrolling the hotel and grounds.
• Cleaning public areas and maintaining floors and surfaces.
• Handling guests' late-night requests, preparing and serving food/beverages.
• Maintaining kitchens, dishes, and cleaning utensils and appliances.
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests.

Job description

Rosewood Matakauri is an alpine lakeside retreat nestled in one of the world's most serenely beautiful landscapes. Spectacularly situated on Lake Wakatipu and only seven minutes from Queenstown. We currently have a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join our team.

We are currently seeking a permanent full time Night Porter to be responsible for the overnight functions of the Hotel. Shifts will usually be 8 to 9 hours long between 7pm and 7 am, depending on operational requirements.

What you will do:

• Welcoming late night or early morning guests, answering telephones, delivering messages
• Responding to any emergencies
• Patrolling the hotel and grounds
• Cleaning public areas
• Sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, dusting and polishing furniture, fixtures and fittings
• Removing rubbish and recycling
• Cleaning fireplaces
• Maintaining kitchens, washing dishes and cooking utensils, and cleaning appliances, cupboards, counters, pantries, and floors
• Attending to any late-night guest requests; preparing and cooking meals, and serving food and beverages

What you will bring:

• A passion for service delivery and the hospitality industry
• An understanding of guest expectations and changing expectations, gleaned from at least 3 years' experience in a hotel environment
• Service experience across a variety of hospitality roles, including but not limited to housekeeping and food & beverage
• A high degree of honesty and integrity - the hotel is in your hands
• Excellent presentation and strong communication skills
• A high level of attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills (you will need to be self-motivated too)
• Flexibility and maturity in approach
• Reliability and accountability
• The ability to respond quickly and calmly in an emergency situation
