Job summary

Central Otago District Council is seeking a casual pool crew member for Ranfurly Pool. Responsibilities include lifeguarding, welcoming customers at reception and poolside, and supporting pool operations during the season from mid-November 2026 to April 2027.

Role requires being able to stand poolside for periods, reliable and trustworthy, with training provided for lifeguard duties and first aid certification obtainable before the season starts.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service preferred.
• Current lifeguard qualifications ideal but training will be provided.
• Current first aid certificate or ability to obtain before the season begins.

Responsibilities

• Lifeguarding and supervision of pool activities and poolside.
• Customer service at reception and poolside.
• Pool procedures including tests and setup/shut-down of the facility.
• Daily cleaning tasks including changing rooms and poolside areas.

Ranfurly Pool is a vibrant and important part of the community and being part of the pool crew is a great way to interact within the community and show off our wonderful facility.

Ranfurly Pool is open from mid-November 2026 until April 2027. Shifts are over a 7-day period and range from 7:00am to 7:30pm

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Lifeguarding and supervision of the activities within the pool and poolside
• Customer service – meeting and greeting customers at reception and poolside
• Pool procedures including pool tests, general set up and shut down of the facility
• Daily cleaning task including the changing rooms, poolside washdowns and other cleaning duties as required

About You

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience in customer service would be preferred
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Able to stand for periods of time poolside
• Current lifeguard qualifications would be ideal however full training will be undertaken before the season begins. Successful applicants must be available for training.
• Current first aid certificate, however this can be obtained before the season begins
