Job summary

The Cromwell Pool team at Central Otago District Council Cromwell is seeking a lifeguard to keep customers safe and provide a friendly experience. You’ll be part of a busy aquatics team delivering lifeguarding, customer service, Learn to Swim and community programmes.

The role involves supervising pool users, handling water testing, opening/closing, assisting with reception and enquiries, and supporting Learn to Swim. Full training will be provided; a positive attitude and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Actively lifeguard and supervise pool users.

• Open, close and perform general operational duties.
• Collaborate with Aquatics team to run the facility safely.
• Report to Aquatics Operations Manager and Cromwell Pool Supervisors.
• Rostered role with morning and evening shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

As a member of our Cromwell Pool team, you’ll play an important role in keeping our customers safe while providing a friendly and welcoming experience.

You’ll be part of a busy aquatics team that delivers lifeguarding, customer service, Learn to Swim and community-focused programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively lifeguard and supervise pool users.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service.
• Respond to emergencies and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Complete water testing and maintain high standards of pool cleanliness.
• Assist with reception, admissions and general pool enquiries.
• Support Learn to Swim and other aquatics programmes.
• Complete opening, closing and general operational duties.
• Work collaboratively with the wider Aquatics team to ensure the facility operates safely and effectively.
• Report to the Aquatics Operations Manager and work closely with the Cromwell Pool Supervisors and wider pool team.
• This is a rostered role, and applicants must be available to work a range of morning and evening shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
