Job summary

Partly Group in Christchurch and Auckland seeks a Head of Platform to build and lead the internal platform, infrastructure foundations, and security-by-default capabilities. You will drive SRE, DevEx, and ML/AI infrastructure to support fast delivery and scale.

You’ll manage a cross‑functional team, partner with product and engineering, and shape a roadmap that improves reliability, cost efficiency, and developer velocity across the platform.

Qualifications

• Platform leadership experience building a platform/infrastructure/SRE function in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong grounding in SRE practices (SLOs, incident management, observability).
• Deep familiarity with running production workloads on a major cloud (GCP preferred) and Kubernetes.
• IaC and GitOps tooling experience (Terraform, ArgoCD).
• Ability to define golden paths and measure impact on developer velocity and reliability.
• Security-by-default in platform-oriented work (IAM, secrets management).
• Experience with ML/AI infrastructure concepts (GPU/accelerator compute, model serving).
• Ability to navigate cross-functional collaboration with product/engineering leadership.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Platform Strategy & Team Leadership: Build and lead the Platform function (SRE, DevEx, Infra, Security enablement).
• Developer Experience: Create default paths for engineers to build, test, deploy, and operate services with measurable productivity gains.
• Reliability & Operational Excellence: Own reliability foundations (observability, incident response, postmortems, SLOs).
• Infrastructure Foundations: Ensure scalable, secure cloud and Kubernetes foundations with IaC and automation.
• ML & Foundation-Model Infrastructure: Manage GPU provisioning, training orchestration, model serving and cost-aware ML deploys.
• Agentic & Forward-Deployed Enablement: Design self-service golden paths for AI coding agents and engineers.
• Security Enablement: Partner on IAM patterns, secrets management, vulnerability management, policy-as-code.
• Cost & Performance Ownership: Drive FinOps visibility and cost optimization without hurting velocity.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with Product/Engineering to translate platform work into customer value.
• Hands-on Delivery: Be technical enough to contribute directly while building a scalable team.
