Job summary

NZTA | Waka Kotahi seeks a Platform Lead - Data to steer NZTA's enterprise data platform strategy, architecture, delivery and operations. You will guide the evolution of data and analytics capabilities, including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Azure services, ensuring trusted data and AI-driven decisions across the organisation.

You will lead cross-functional teams, govern data quality and security, and collaborate with Digital, business and delivery units to unlock high-value data

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise data platform strategy, architecture, delivery and operations.
• Hands-on Databricks experience; familiarity with Fabric, Power BI and Azure data services.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex technology outcomes.
• Strong governance, security, data quality and operational resilience knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to advise senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Set and deliver the roadmap for NZTA's enterprise data platform.
• Lead evolution of a modern data and analytics ecosystem (Databricks, Fabric, Power BI, Azure).
• Provide technical leadership across data engineering, analytics enablement and self-service reporting.
• Strengthen platform governance, security, resilience and cost management.
• Lead cross-functional platform squads and promote Agile/DevOps.
• Partner with Digital, business and delivery teams to unlock high-value data products and AI use cases across NZTA.
