Job summary

NZTA | Waka Kotahi seeks a Platform Lead - Data to steer strategy, architecture and delivery of its enterprise data platforms. You will guide investments, oversee security and governance, and lead cross-functional squads to scale data products and analytics across the organisation.

You will drive modern data capabilities with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Azure services, while engaging senior stakeholders to translate platform value into better transport decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise data platform strategy, architecture, delivery and operations.
• Strong technical expertise across modern data platforms, with Databricks essential and Azure/Microsoft Fabric exposure valued.

Responsibilities

• Set and deliver the roadmap for NZTA's enterprise data platform, ensuring scalability, security and resilience.
• Lead evolution of a modern data and analytics ecosystem using Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Azure.
• Provide technical leadership across data engineering, analytics enablement, self-service reporting and platform reliability.
• Strengthen governance, security, resilience, performance and cost management to deliver trusted data services.
• Lead cross-functional platform squads and promote Agile, DevOps and automation-first ways of working.
• Partner with Digital, business and delivery teams to unlock high-value data products, analytics and AI use cases across NZTA.
