Job summary

BayCare Health System at Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, FL is seeking a motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a pool/PRN role to support the acute care rehabilitation team. You will assist Physical Therapists in delivering evidence-based interventions to help patients regain mobility and independence.

The role requires BLS, PTA licensure/temporary licensure within 6 months, and an associate degree in Physical Therapy.

Qualifications

• Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.

In this role, you will assist Physical Therapists in delivering evidence-based interventions that help patients regain mobility, restore function, and achieve their highest level of independence.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL (Activities of Daily Living) mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Qualifications
