Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the Mease Dunedin Hospital team in Clearwater, FL. This full-time, hourly role provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under RN supervision, with shift hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM and every-other weekend work.

Requirements include BLS, CNA or Patient Care Technician preferred, and education ranging from high school to an associate/bachelor’s degree related to healthcare.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• CNA or Patient Care Technician certification preferred.
• Experience in psychiatric care is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under RN supervision.
• Conducts ongoing monitoring and observation to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Mental Health Technician Position Details

• Facility: Mease Dunedin Hospital
• Location: Clearwater, FL
• Status: Full time, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
• Weekend Work: Every Other
• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required

Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
• Patient Care Technician - preferred

Education

• High School or Equivalent
• Associate's degree in related field -

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in related field-

Experience

• 6 months – Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
