Science

Te Kāreti o Mana is seeking an inspiring, collaborative, and student-centred educator to join our Science department in a permanent full-time capacity starting Term 1 2027.

You will deliver high-quality Science learning across Years 9–13, foster relational classroom practice, and actively contribute to the wider life of the college.

Key responsibilities

• Teaching & Curriculum: Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-based Science programmes across junior (Years 9–10) and senior (Years 11–13) levels in alignment with the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Assessment & Student Achievement: Carry out robust NCEA assessment practices and support student achievement in close collaboration with Deans, whānau, and Senior Leadership.
• Schoolwide Contribution: Model relational pedagogy, support schoolwide literacy and numeracy initiatives, and contribute to extra-curricular college life.
• Current New Zealand Teacher Registration.
• Proven experience teaching Science across Years 9–13.
• Strong command of the NZ Science Curriculum and NCEA achievement standards.
• Commitment to culturally responsive practice and relational teaching.

Potential leadership opportunity — Fixed-term LAH Science

A fixed-term Learning Area Head (LAH) of Science role (parental leave cover for the full 2027 school year) may be available for a suitable applicant, carrying 2 Management Units (2 MU) and 1 Middle Management Allowance (1 MMA).

LAH responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic departmental leadership across Years 9–13.
• Mentoring Science staff through regular pedagogical observations.
• Managing annual department budgets and overseeing NCEA assessment administration on KAMAR.
• Leading evidence-based, culturally responsive programme design reflecting Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
