Te Kāreti o Mana is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and student-centred Science teacher for a full-time fixed-term role covering parental leave for the 2027 school year.

You will join a supportive department dedicated to delivering engaging learning experiences for rangatahi across junior and senior levels.

Key responsibilities

• Classroom Delivery: Plan and teach junior Science (Years 9–10) and senior specialist courses (Years 11–13).

Leadership opportunity — Fixed-term LAH Science

A fixed-term Learning Area Head (LAH) of Science role (Parental Leave Cover for the full 2027 school year) may be available for a suitable applicant, carrying 2 Management Units (2 MU) and 1 Middle Management Allowance (1 MMA).

LAH responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic departmental leadership across Years 9–13.
• Mentoring Science staff through regular pedagogical observations.
• Managing annual department budgets and overseeing NCEA assessment administration on KAMAR.
• Leading evidence-based, culturally responsive programme design reflecting Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Current New Zealand Teacher Registration.
• Demonstrated capability teaching Science across Years 9–13.
• Solid understanding of the NZ Science Curriculum and NCEA standards.
