Job summary

Whangaparaoa College is seeking a Certificated Science teacher to lead Science across our Middle School, with direct leadership of Years 9–10 curriculum and assessment. You will connect Junior, Middle and Senior Schools to ensure curriculum progression and strong learner pathways.

Qualifications

We are embarking on an exciting new vision for a three school model for our kura from the beginning of 2027.

Our kura delivers an innovative curriculum focused on knowing and growing learners as individuals. We are seeking a Science leader to help shape a strong Years 7–13 curriculum, with direct leadership of Science in our Middle School. Working alongside the Head of Learning Area and Curriculum Leads, you will be a connection between our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools, ensuring curriculum progression and strong pathways for every learner.

This role combines curriculum and people leadership. You will lead curriculum design, assessment and reporting in Years 9–10, use learner data to drive improvement, and know and grow the teachers within your area. You will bring Science curriculum expertise, a commitment to evidence-based and culturally sustaining practice, and the confidence to lead with warmth and high expectations.

We are looking for a collaborative, credible and solutions-focused leader who can build teacher capability, strengthen consistency of practice and inspire exceptional learner engagement and achievement.
