North Harbour Hockey Association – Albany, North Island

We are looking for an energetic, relationship-focused Participation and Programmes Manager to lead the planning, promotion and delivery of our participation programmes across the North Harbour region. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about community sport and enjoys creating positive experiences for young people, Masters, and the wider hockey community.

About the role

As our Participation and Programmes Manager, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality experiences for junior (4-13 years) and Masters (35+ years) participants, ensuring accessible opportunities, player support and development pathways that foster lifelong involvement in hockey. As the champion for participation, the Participation and Programmes Manager works to increase engagement, strengthen relationships with schools and community partners, and create clear pathways into club and community hockey, while delivering programmes that reflect North Harbour Hockey's values and long-term participation objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, promote and deliver high-quality participation programmes across the North Harbour region.
• Coordinate hockey programmes and grow relationships with schools, sports coordinators, and local organisations
• Ensure programmes are well organised, safe, inclusive and enjoyable inlcuding holiday programmes and participation initiatives.
• Deliver on North Harbour Hockey's strategies to promote engagement and participation within the community contiually monitoring outcomes to continuously improve participant experiences.
• Develop pathways for players of all ages and ability, with a focus on increasing participation of junior and Masters hockey
• Oversee programmes for junior players, coaches and officials ensuring key outcomes are achieved
• Bring innovation and best practice to hockey delivery, maximising participation and finding creative ways to engage and re-engage players
• Prepare budgets, engagement and participant targets for each programme
• Lead the Masters Representative campaign working closely with our Masters Working group
• Implement Health and Safety Policies and Procedures within the programme and team space, report any potential or actual risks, injuries, work-related illnesses and incidents, and maintain current First Aid training
• You are passionate about sport participation and thrive in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
