Job summary

SPCA Gisborne is seeking a fixed term Op Shop Assistant to join our Gisborne Op Shop team. This part-time role involves working on rostered days, handling donations, processing sales, and delivering friendly service to customers; you’ll be part of a supportive volunteer community that makes a difference for animal welfare.

If you are practical, reliable and enjoy helping people, you’ll fit in across the shop floor, till and sorting area, with training and flexibility to cover shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Retail or customer service experience required.
• Ability to work on-call and sole charge.
• Physically able to lift/move stock as required.
• Confident using POS, email and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Work sole charge on rostered days, taking full responsibility for daily shop operations.
• Receive, sort, price and merchandise donated goods.
• Assist customers and donors with friendly, professional service.
• Process sales transactions and complete cash handling duties.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented store environment.
• Ensure stock is replenished and displayed effectively.
• Help support and guide volunteers in their roles.
• Provide cover and basic team supervision in the manager’s absence.
